About This Calligraphy Art -

I designed this calligraphy in the initial stages of my calligraphy journey. I tried to keep the background traditionally artistic, using colourful tilework in the border along with a shade of yellow for the base. This yellow color is neither too bright nor too dull, instead it is light on the eyes of the viewers. The arabic text in black is perfectly in contrast with the background. I hope that you like this artwork. 

What is Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum?

The meaning of Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyu is, "the Self-Sustaining and All-Sustaining" also in other words, "O Ever Living One, O Self Sustaining One". 

"Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum" are two of Allah's Islamic Names (Asma ul Husna) meaning "O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining/Eternal Sustainer". It's a powerful invocation (Dua) used in distress, often completed as Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum birahmatika astaghees ("O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining, in Your Mercy I seek relief"), asking Allah for help and to rectify all affairs, reflecting complete reliance on Him. 

Benefits of Reciting this -

This du‘a is one of the greatest supplications that inspires the Muslim to be a true slave to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and to draw close to Allah by virtue of His names and attributes. For He, may He be glorified, is al-Hayy (the Ever-Living), al-Qayyum (the Self-Sustaining and All-Sustaining), ar-Rahman (the Most Gracious), ar-Rahim (the Most Merciful), and the individual is seeking help and support from the fact that He, may He be glorified and exalted, is the Sustainer, just as he beseeches Him by virtue of His mercy which encompasses all things, in the hope that he will be granted of that mercy that which will bring him happiness in this world and the Hereafter.
